Repairing the past

From a distance, St. Peter’s Church stands as proudly as it did following its rebuilding by Lord de Ramsey at the end of the 19th century. However, take a closer look and the need for a major repair project becomes evident.

Outside, against the walls, roof tiles are lined up, awaiting reinstatement. Look closely and you can see grass growing in the walls where the gutters have failed.

Inside walls are damp and cracked, even the wooden roof has been affected by water ingress. As you can see in the photos below, the weathering over the centuries as well as the feet of numerous worshippers have left their mark.
